    • Child Life Zone: a place with games and medical play where children can go to just be kids and not patients at a hospital
    • Child Life Specialists: specialize in making a child’s experience at Riley as fear-free and comfortable as possible. 
  • Conducts research through a partnership with IU School of Medicine on a variety of topics including but not limited to…

History of Dance Marathon:
  • First Dance Marathon in 1991 at Indiana University
  • In honor of Ryan White
  • Raised $10,900 the first year
  • Dance Marathon has become a nation-wide movement that has raised $300 million dollars FTK
  • FTK= For the Kids
  • SMC= Sarah Michelle Cohen
  • Sarah battled cancer and was treated at Riley
  • Her brother, Ben, was president of BUDM!
  • Our dance marathon is in honor of Sarah Michelle Cohen
    • This is unique to OUR dance marathon!
  • Unfortunately, lost her battle to cancer before she could be a Butler student, but she will ALWAYS be considered an honorary bulldog
50/50 Fundraising
  • Where does the money that we fundraise go??
  • 50% goes to pediatric cancer research
  • 50% goes to the general benefit
    • General Benefit means that we have Riley allocate funds that we send to areas that they feel are most needed.

Riley Hospital for Children
  • Indiana’s largest pediatric research program
  • Founded by James Whitcomb Riley in 1924
  • Offers the most clinical trials for children in Indiana
  • Indiana’s only comprehensive children’s hospital
Riley Children’s Foundation
  • Organize dance marathons to fundraise for the kids at Riley Hospital
  • Established in 1921 (before Riley Hospital)
  • Host’s Camp Riley for ~250 kids each summer
Ronald McDonald House
  • A place for families to stay and relax while their children are in the hospital.
  • Includes kitchen, laundry rooms, beds, and showers.
  • Ronald McDonald House at Riley has 6 overnight guest rooms and a fully-stocked pantry and kitchen full of donated items. 
  • The families of children, from birth through 21 years of age (or 18, depending on the House), who are being treated at nearby hospitals and medical facilities, are eligible. The patient is also eligible to stay with the family if he/she is being treated on an outpatient basis. 
Maternal-Newborn Health Unit
  • Expected to open in 2021
  • A new model of coordinated care that essentially treats mother and baby as one patient and surrounds them with the medical support they need.
  • Accommodate 3,800+ deliveries each year 
  • Provide comprehensive maternity services, from lowest to highest risk
  • Improve the patient experience for moms and babies by keeping them together with co-located services
  • The Riley Outpatient Center will also be updated to house an outpatient maternal-fetal medicine clinic 
  • Four floors of Riley Hospital will be renovated to house a labor and delivery unit, a 45-bed Level 3 neonatal intensive care unit, and a postpartum unit.
  • When added to the 60-bed Level 4 NICU currently in Simon Family Tower, it will be the largest NICU in Indiana and among the largest in the country.
